The murderer of adopted baby boy Preston Davey suffered a hellish first night behind bars at ‘Monster Mansion’ – the prison where another child killer was stabbed to death 25 times in his own cell.
Insiders have claimed that fuming inmates gave baby murderer Jamie Varley a ‘traditional prisoners welcome’, banging on the bars and shouting warnings that he is on borrowed time for the vile abuse he inflicted on little Preston.
The horror threats followed Varley as he entered HMP Wakefield, also commonly known as Monster Mansion, where he was taken immediately following his sentencing at Preston Crown Court last week, the Daily Star reported.

The teacher last week was found guilty of murdering 13-month-old Preston, who he was in the process of adopting. His partner, John McGowan-Fazakerley, a salesman, was found guilty of allowing the little boy’s death. Depraved killer Varley will never be released after being handed a whole life order.
The reality of his new life seemed to ‘hit’ him as he spent his first night sobbing in his cell, say insiders. “It was quite the hit home for how the rest of his life will be,” a source revealed to the Daily Star.

“Varley was in for a rude awakening if he thought he would be getting an easy ride. He is arguably one of Britain’s most hated men right now, and that stands in the prison too.
“There’s a bounty on his head, everyone wants to be the one to hurt him first, and he was made very aware of that as he entered the prison.
“The other prisoners knew he was coming and they waited for him. They want him scared and they want to make his time inside as awful as they can – and now he knows he has a lot of time inside to serve. He is never getting out, there is no way out of this hell for him.”
Varley is believed to currently be in segregation. This means he will spend the majority of his time in his cell alone, without company, with guards on the clock watching him to keep him safe. Mental health experts are also expected to be called in to the Category A lock up in West Yorkshire, to access his mental state as he is on 24 hour suicide watch.
The insider added: “In time he will be allowed to move about a bit more, but any time he does leave his cell it is likely he will be flanked by guards, they have a duty of care to him.
“He was welcomed last night by loud banging and shouting as fellow prisoners who anticipated his arrival when they learnt of a prison van arriving to drop off newbies. He was whispering to himself and spent the whole night just sobbing in his cell. He must be thinking that an attack is inevitable, it is just a case of when.”
Wakefield is one of Britain’s most notorious lock ups, known for housing the country’s most evil prisoners. It is home to between 630 and 750 high-risk offenders, the vast majority serving long-term or indeterminate life sentences, with notable inmates over the years including Harold Shipman, Levi Bellfield, Ian Huntley, and Charles Bronson over the years.
Three convicted murderers were last week handed whole life terms after another child killer was stabbed to death in his cell at the prison. Mark ‘The Iceman’ Fellows, 45, who previously shot dead ‘gangland kingpins’ Paul Massey and John Kinsella; David Taylor, 64; and Lee Newell, 57; were all convicted of murdering 33-year-old Kyle Bevan in HMP Wakefield following a trial at Leeds Crown Court.
The trio teamed up to murder Bevan, who had been serving a life sentence for killing Lola James, his two-year-old step daughter, at the home they shared in Wales.

Leeds Crown Court heard that Bevan was stabbed 25 times in his cell with improvised weapons in the jail on November 4 last year. After the attack his body was placed in his bed, covered with a blanket and made to look as if he were asleep.
CCTV footage from inside the jail showed the three category A prisoners following Bevan into his cell, one by one. Once they left the cell just under five minutes later, Bevan was never seen alive again.
His body was not discovered until the following morning, when he had already been dead for hours and after officers had carried out checks at the door of his cell.
“Things will not be getting any better for him any time soon,” the insider continued when discussing Varley. “In fact every day he survives, the bounty will increase for taking him out. Guards certainly have a job on their hands keeping him safe.”
