Breaking this morning, the British military says *** tanker has come under attack in the Strait of Hormuz. That report comes as Bahrain is accusing Iran of launching *** drone attack on the island nation. Meanwhile, Iran claims it targeted several US military sites in the region. It comes after the US launched *** new round of strikes on Iran Friday that it said was in retaliation for an earlier attack. Washington correspondent Jackie Deco joins us live from our DC bureau. Jackie, what does this mean for the push to end the war? Well, Bailey, all of these reports this morning and everything that happened yesterday is really just adding more stress onto this interim agreement that was reached between the US and Iran just about *** week ago now, which aims to really start the process of ending the war while negotiations continue. Here’s what President Trump had to say yesterday when he was asked if this ceasefire is still in place. I don’t like the fact that they took *** shot yesterday, actually 4. And not long after he made those comments, US Central Command released this video, as you can see here, strikes on Iranian missile and drone storage locations and coastal radar sites. Iran, for its part, accused President Trump of having no commitment to negotiations and warned that these new strikes from the US will. Lead to retreat and regret. And again we’re seeing another round of strikes from Iran this morning, perhaps as *** result of that action on Friday. The exchange of fire now disrupting efforts to resume normal traffic in that crucial oil shipping route, the Strait of Hormuz, that could potentially influence gas prices here in the United States, which had been trending downward. Bailey, Jackie, we know shipping traffic had actually been increasing before this attack. Where do those efforts to reopen the strait stand now? Well, Bailey, long term management of the strait is still somewhat of an open question. That’s one of many subjects that is still under negotiation right now. But meanwhile, Iran yesterday continued to insist that ships follow its rules in the Strait and transit using certain routes. Also this week though, the United Nations Maritime Agency had launched an effort to try to get some of those stranded ships out of the strait using an alternative. Right route rather now, however, in the wake of all of this, officials are saying that those evacuations have been paused and that they will not resume until they have assurances and guarantees that there’s not going to be any additional attacks. Bailey, well, this all happened around the same time that the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio joined Israel and Lebanon’s ambassadors to announce *** framework agreement. How significant is that to all of this? Bailey, this is essentially being described as *** first step towards peace between Israel and who has of course been fighting Hezbollah, this militant group in Lebanon for many months now. The US State Department says that the framework establishes *** process to dismantle Hezbollah while also creating *** process for Lebanon to regain the. Territory that Israel has captured amid this fight. However, there are still big challenges that remain here, notably Hezbollah itself is not actually *** part of this negotiation, not part of this agreement, and at least one of its officials in Lebanon threatened civil war following news of this framework. At least 80 people were impacted by that fire, and 1 firefighter was hurt during the response but is expected to make *** full recovery. *** second person has now died after this week’s shooting at Lancaster County Central Park. The coroner says 47-year-old Kevin Lucas of Lititz was shot and killed Wednesday night. His death has been ruled *** homicide. The coroner says the other person involved, 32-year-old Brandon Cunningham of East Hempfield Township, was pronounced dead at the hospital Friday after the coroner says he shot himself. We now know the name of the person who was killed in *** crash in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County. Yesterday. The coroner identified the victim as 54 year old Michael Paul of Shillington, Berks County. The coroner says he died after his car and *** tractor trailer crashed on Reading Road Thursday night. An investigation into the cause of that crash is ongoing. And in Dauphin County, one person was injured after *** multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 83 northbound. 911 dispatchers say that happened just before 5:30 near the exit for Paxton Street. They say 4 vehicles were involved there. There’s no word on the injured person’s condition. Investigation continues after *** woman was found dead in *** Dauphin County Creek. Authorities said they were called to Bird Run Creek near Wolf Street and Rhoda Avenue at High Spire Memorial Park yesterday. 65 year old Grace Lampley of Highspire was found dead. Investigators said *** power wheelchair was seen next to the bridge that spans the creek. Sitting around that table, I had visited *** number of the places that were represented at that table, which was *** good indication to me that I’m talking to the right people and it was also *** good indication that you know people are wrestling with these problems and I think we’ve they have not stumbled, stumble is the wrong word, they’ve they found what seems to be *** really viable way to address *** really challenging problem. One of the things discussed there is *** program that *** program that offers students pursuing healthcare careers up to $65,000 in support in exchange for *** commitment to work in hospitals and health systems after graduation. The State Department of Environmental Protection says *** mosquito sample has tested positive for West Nile virus in Cumberland County. The county says the sample was collected in New Cumberland and that it will increase mosquito surveillance in the area and inspect potential mosquito breeding habitats. So far this year there have been 84 measles cases in the state since April. 61 of those cases have been in Lancaster. In Lebanon counties, the Department of Health says every case of measles they’ve seen has been in *** person who is not vaccinated or who does not know their vaccination status. The Secretary of Health says two doses of the MMR vaccine can provide 97% lifelong protection against measles. 94% of Pennsylvania kindergarten students are vaccinated, according to the state, but still, they say the outbreak is spreading. We really consider this outbreak to be something that’s widespread. It’s not specific to any community. Uh, the only real defining characteristic that we’re seeing is that people that get measles are unvaccinated. Local providers are having vaccination clinics. The decision was made possible through the support of Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins and organizations like the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, PennAg Industries Association, the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association, and The Manufacturer & Business Association (MBA).Pennsylvania’s presence at the fair is being made possible entirely through private partnerships and will not use taxpayer dollars, according to the senators. “Pennsylvania is where America’s story began, and there was no way we were going to let the Commonwealth go unrepresented during our Nation’s 250th birthday celebration,” said Senator McCormick. “As the birthplace of American independence, home to the hallowed grounds of Gettysburg, and the engine for the arsenal of democracy, Pennsylvania has a special responsibility to preserve, celebrate, and share that enduring legacy.”“Celebrating America’s 250th birthday and Pennsylvania’s special role in our country is important and bipartisan.
