CHELAN, Wash. — Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed to KIRO 7 News that the Chelan Hills Fire has spread to between 15,000 and 20,000 acres.
The sheriff said it is making “significant progress” in a little under two hours, despite efforts to contain the fire.
Evacuation orders remain at Level 3, the highest level, and everyone in the area is asked to get out now.

According to the sheriff, at least a dozen homes and buildings have burned. There are no reported deaths or injuries at this time.
The fire is burning near the intersection of US 97 and Chelan Hills Acres Road in Orondo, according to Chelan County Fire District 5.
An evacuation shelter has been set up at Chelan Elementary School, which is at 324 East Johnson Avenue.
It’s unclear how it started, but firefighters say it’s being fueled by dry conditions.
