A Merseyside Police forensic officer on St Ambrose Croft, Netherton
A murder investigation has been launched after the death of a woman. Paramedics were called to a property on St Ambrose Croft in Netherton at around 10am where they found a woman in her 50s had died.
Merseyside Police officers were then notified and called to the scene before a murder investigation was launched on the tightly packed road in south Sefton. Police have since arrested a 30-year-old woman from Netherton on suspicion of murder.
She remains in custody, a spokesperson for the police force said.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained, with the force stating enquiries remain ongoing to establish what happened.
When the ECHO attended the scene, forensic officers were seen coming and going from a building in the corner of a close on the road.
Detectives were also at the scene as the investigation continued.

Detective Inspector Sara Lang said: “Our thoughts at this time are with the family of the woman who has sadly passed way.
“As this matter is clearly in the very early stages, we would ask people to avoid speculating and allow us to carry out our enquiries.
“Although we have arrested a person in connection with the investigation, we are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward.”
