Merseyside Police has issued an update on the murder investigation following the death of a mum at the weekend. Tracy McCormack 55, from Litherland, was found dead at a block of flats on St Ambrose Croft in Netherton on Sunday, July 5.
Paramedics who attended the incident reported the death to Merseyside Police at around 10am. Officers then arrived and a murder investigation was launched. The death is being treated as unexplained, the force said, and enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the death of Tracy.
A postmortem investigation is yet to take place, a spokesperson for the force said. In a tribute, released via Merseyside Police, the family said: “Tracy was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.
“She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Our family kindly asks for privacy during difficult time as we grieve this devastating loss.”
Police arrested a 30-year-old woman from Netherton on suspicion of murder on Sunday. She has now been released on bail while enquiries continue, the force said in an update this morning (Tuesday, July 7).
Detectives are carrying out several lines of enquiry and are appealing for anyone who has information which will help with the investigation to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Alan Nuttall said: “Our thoughts continue to be with Tracy’s family at this tragic time and they are being supported by our family liaison officers.
“Although we have arrested a person in connection with the investigation, we continue to appeal for anyone with information to please contact us. Any information no matter how small will assist with our enquiries.”
