At least six Palestinians, including a nine-year-old girl, were killed in Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, according to Palestinian health officials, even as mediators continued negotiations aimed at preserving the US-brokered ceasefire.
The latest violence comes amid ongoing efforts to advance the next phase of the truce between Israel and Hamas.
Child among those killed
Palestinian medics said nine-year-old Tala Abu Matar was killed after Israeli gunfire struck a tent encampment on the eastern edge of the Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.
The Israeli military said it was not aware of the reported incident.
In Gaza City, an Israeli airstrike on a metal foundry in the Sabra neighbourhood killed four people. Witnesses said the site was hit by three missiles.

The Israeli military said the strike in Gaza City targeted Hamas militants operating inside a weapons production facility, accusing the group of violating the ceasefire by using the site for military purposes.
The military also said its forces had killed at least two Hamas fighters in northern Gaza since Thursday, alleging they were planning attacks on Israeli troops.
Later on Sunday, another Israeli strike hit a tent encampment in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, killing at least one person and injuring several others, including children, according to medics.
Ceasefire talks remain deadlocked
The attacks took place as Hamas officials were in Cairo for fresh talks on implementing the second phase of the ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States in October 2025.
According to sources familiar with the negotiations, discussions are focused on Hamas disarmament and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. However, no breakthrough has been reported.
Hamas has accused Israel of repeatedly violating the ceasefire, saying the continued military operations have hindered progress toward the next phase of the agreement.
Humanitarian crisis deepens
Although the October 2025 ceasefire significantly reduced large-scale fighting, Palestinian officials say more than 1,000 people have been killed in Israeli attacks since the truce took effect. During the same period, four Israeli soldiers have reportedly been killed by Hamas militants.
Most of Gaza’s nearly two million residents remain displaced, living in overcrowded tent camps or damaged buildings along the coastal enclave.
The war began after Hamas-led militants killed about 1,200 people in southern Israel during the October 7, 2023 attack, according to Israeli figures. Gaza’s Health Ministry says more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed in the territory since the conflict began.
