Ambulance going to Israel dedicated for Sarah Milgrim, Yaron Lischinsky

  • July 18, 2026

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) – On Friday, a ceremony was held to dedicate an ambulance in memory of Kansas Citian Sarah Milgrim and her boyfriend Yaron Lischinsky at Congregation B’nai Jehudah. Both were killed in a shooting outside an event for young diplomats at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington D.C. in 2025.

The ambulance is being donated to Magen David Adom, Israel’s national emergency medical, disaster, ambulance, and blood bank service, by the Goldhirsch-Yellin Foundation. It’s president, Elizabeth Goldhirsch, never personally met the couple but was impacted by their stories.

“Sarah and Yaron were all about bridge building, about building a more peaceful and just world,” said Goldhirsch. “It really felt like an incredible honor for me to be able to donate this ambulance in their memory.”

Both Sarah and Yaron’s fathers spoke at the dedication ceremony.

“We’re honoring Sarah and Yaron with this precious gift,” said Robert Milgrim. “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

“It’s really an honor for me to be here to be in this moment that I , of course, never thought would happen,” said Daniel Lischinsky. “But it’s incredible. We are surrounded by angels.”

After the ceremony, both were able to walk around and view inside the ambulance. Both were deeply touched by the dedication.

“It was moving. I am still moved,” said Lischinsky. “You never imagine that somebody will come and say their lives inspire me and I want to donate an ambulance in their memories.”

“It’s totally overwhelming,” said Milgrim. “There’s a part of Sarah on the door. Sunflowers were her favorite. They [ambulances] provide lifesaving work. That inspires us and it inspires us that her name is on this ambulance that will be carrying on the same work that she did.”

The ambulance will be shipped to Israel in the coming weeks.
