Based on LinkedIn data, 2.1% of LinkedIn members registered in Israel in 2025 were classified as AI talent, representing the highest volume in the study and ranking far higher than second-place Singapore.
Ranking around fifth globally for private sector investment with around $19 billion invested in AI-related companies between 2013 and 2025, Israel has long been a nation that’s punched above its weight when it comes to the development of transformative technologies, but now it appears to be shaping up to become a global focal point for not only R&D but also developing successful AI applications at scale.
This has helped Israel to excel as an early mover in many different areas of artificial intelligence, including healthcare, security, and physical AI.
It’s this ability to work frictionlessly with international peers that’s also proving to be a major boost for the nation’s AI prowess.
With this in mind, let’s take a deeper look at how Israel has established itself as a global AI sandbox and how it’s helping to improve domestic industries at scale:
Delivering Leading Healthcare
In recent days, we’ve seen Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan announce a collaboration with OpenAI to deploy the company’s enterprise healthcare AI platform, which is expected to give physicians, nurses, researchers, and staff secure access to an AI-powered clinical reasoning tool to establish faster, evidence-based medical decisions.
The agreement will make the medical center OpenAI’s first international hospital partner as part of its ambitions to become a fully AI-powered facility.
OpenAI is one of the biggest names in AI throughout the world, and now Sheba Medical Center staff will gain access to the firm’s ChatGPT for Healthcare platform, which has the ability to synthesize peer-reviewed studies, clinical guidelines, and public health sources, with citations and publication dates attached to each response for clinicians to verify evidence.
The news comes as Israeli medical device company TriO announced the creation of a product that’s geared towards reducing the number of limb amputations resulting from diabetic foot ulcers.
The rate of innovation that’s sweeping through Israel’s healthcare sector is no accident. In July, Israel’s Health Ministry and Innovation Authority launched a first-of-its-kind regulatory sandbox to test advanced AI systems in healthcare, with Plessanmore, Cordio Medical, and Simhawk all spearheading trials on high-autonomy AI technologies in real clinical settings.
It’s this commitment to the development of AI tools in healthcare that could lead to sweeping improvements to the quality of life of patients around the world.
Leading Cybersecurity Innovation
Alongside OpenAI, Microsoft’s Israeli cyber team has also used the country’s status as a growing artificial intelligence hub to unveil a new cybersecurity system called Perception, which has been developed to transform cyber defense for the AI era.
The system will also be accompanied by a new AI model for cybersecurity that Microsoft has claimed can outperform Anthropic’s Claude-based cyber model in identifying software vulnerabilities.
