Ceuta and Melilla are the only regions in the EU and Schengen Area that share a land border with Africa. Under the Schengen agreement, people can move freely between 29 European countries.
Munaim, who once represented Morocco in beach football, was among the thousands of arrivals on Wednesday.
“I came to Ceuta because, ever since I was a child, I wanted to go to Spain,” he told The Telegraph. “I hope to become a professional footballer in Spain.
“Honestly, I’m not afraid of anything. I’ve made it here, and everything else is in God’s hands.”
On Friday, there were already signs that some of the migrants were returning across the border to Morocco.
