Israeli officials have raised the alert over the possibility of a new escalation of the Iran conflict, with many estimating that the conflict is “on the verge of exploding,” N12 News reported on Saturday.
“It is estimated that [US President Donald] Trump has not yet decided on the scope of the attack, and it is not known whether he wants Israel with him in the first phase or not,” the outlet reported.
According to the report, the White House supports the Israeli assessment that a significant and targeted attack on energy facilities could lead to the overthrow of the regime.
“Such a powerful attack could be targeted in time and would not necessarily lead to an ‘energy war’ that would raise prices. These are specific facilities that could have a significant effect on the public,” the source told N12.
“It is not yet clear whether Trump will go for this option or will prolong the blockade until the midterm elections. It is not a question of if but when. All signs indicate that Trump has no choice but to go in this direction,” the source added.
Additionally, officials in Jerusalem told Ynet that any American attack against Iranian assets could trigger attacks against Israel.
During the day, the US Embassy also updated its travel advisory, recommending that US citizens in Israel consider leaving due to rising tensions or be prepared to depart if an escalation occurs.
US embassies in Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq issued similar warnings.
This is a developing story.
