For the past few years with the economic downturn in Iran and following years of negligence, incompetence and indifference by the Ayatollah regime, Iran’s population of more than 90 million have been suffering significant humanitarian crises. Whether it has been a water shortage, electricity systems going down, collapsing infrastructure or lack of domestic food production, the people of Iran have agonized immensely. Instead of Iran’s tremendous wealth from energy revenues being poured into the country and for the betterment of the people of Iran, the criminal Ayatollah regime has been funding foreign terrorist proxies and stealing the country’s wealth for their own cronies. Today as we are on the cusp of this evil Islamic regime collapsing or being greatly degraded by both U.S. and Israeli military forces, there must be a future emergency civilian plan put together and carried out once the regime has fallen in order to immediately aid millions in Iran who lack basic water, power and food for their daily survival. I can think of no better country in the region that Israel with the capabilities, shared friendship and history that can successfully execute this immediate humanitarian help to the people of Iran once this current Ayatollah regime is gone for good.

Current Crisis at hand in Iran

U.S. and western news media outlets have failed to properly report on the current crisis situation unfolding for people in Iran today. Aside from nearly five decades of neglect and utter incompetence by the backwards Ayatollah regime in running Iran, the nation today faces hyper-inflation, high unemployment, water and power shortages and high costs of food which must be imported into the country. Instead of pouring millions of dollars in upgrading Iran’s infrastructure and hospitals, the Islamic regime has given that money to its many terrorist groups to purchase arms, drones and missiles. The regime’s corrupt leadership has over the years has barred many life-saving drugs and medications from entering the market in Iran that could help millions of the elderly and sick inside Iran. Over the decades, the country’s best and brightest doctors seeking better economic opportunities and safety, have fled Iran to practice medicine in the U.S., Europe, Canada and Australia, leaving a shortage of qualified physicians to properly treat Iran’s 90 million population.

The Islamic regime’s neglect and even hatred for the land of Iran has resulted in widespread air and water pollution that kills countless citizens in the country from cancer and other illnesses. Perhaps the most dangerous situation facing Iran today is the significant drought facing the capital of Tehran and many other major provinces in the nation. Instead of finding solutions for Iran’s water crisis, the Islamic regime’s incompetent leadership has done absolutely nothing but propose moving Iran’s capital to another city with water! In essence, the situation for those living inside Iran today is dire, unsustainable and a humanitarian crisis which the world has totally ignored.

Why Israel as the best source to help Iran?

Despite nearly five decades of severed relations between Iran and Israel, many forget that from the 1950 to 1979, Israel and Iran had had one of the closest alliances together in the Middle East. Not only were there military cooperation and trade on-going between the two nations during the reign of the late Shah, but Israeli technology and medical expertise had helped Iran modernized by leaps and bounds. If there is a past history of successful cooperation between these two nations to helped improve the lives of millions inside Iran, there is no reason why these past projects cannot be revived again today but in a large scale to transform Iran for the better.

One of the most significant areas of Israeli help to Iran prior to 1979 came from new water technology and agricultural techniques that made Iran’s driest areas blossom. During the 1960’s and 1970’s, many of the water and sewer systems in major Iranian cities such as Isfahan and Bandar Abbas were created and installed by Israeli private-owned companies and government-owned companies such as “Tahal”. After a 1962 earthquake in Iran’s Qazvin province, Israeli companies were also brought into the area to drill deep water wells that helped transform Qazvin from a barren desert land into one of the most successful agricultural hubs in the Middle East. When entire regions of Iran like Hamadan and Kermanshah needed household and irrigation water systems, it was Israeli companies who won the contracts for installation of such systems. Believe it or not these systems are still functioning today in Iran. Interestingly enough, the radical Islamic regime today with its severed ties with Israel, does manage to buy parts to maintain many of these systems through European companies that purchase them from Israel. Likewise “Mekorot”, the Israeli national water utility, was asked by the late Shah’s government to drill for fresh water throughout Iran and to run a large project on the Iranian part of the Caspian Sea. Additionally during the 1970s the Israeli company “IDE” installed 36 small desalination units on Iranian Air Force facilities and 19 others throughout Iran.

Since the Israelis have had so much past experience and success in battling Iran’s past droughts and water shortages, there can be no doubt they can achieve the same success today if they organize both short term and long-term plans to help solve Iran’s current water shortage crisis. Additionally, Israeli familiarity with Iran’s past water and sewage systems, they originally installed more than 50 or 60 years ago make them the ideal nation to send in teams to repair and upgrade such water systems today that have not been neglected for decades by the Islamic regime. Without a doubt, new Israeli water technology such as the “Watergen” systems that generate water from thin air, can be brought to Iran’s most rural and desert areas that need water urgently for immediate consumption. Moreover, Israeli drip irrigation systems installed in Qazvin province that were destroyed by the Islamic regime in 1979 can today be immediately re-installed in that province’s past agricultural lands and Iran can again begin produce its own fruits and vegetables for domestic consumption. Such technologies and even newer Israeli 21st century water technologies and advances can be brought to Iran to expeditiously resolve water and food shortages the country has been plagued with under the rule of the Ayatollahs.

More importantly, Israel today is considered as the world’s greatest innovator of new water technologies that have helped transformed for the better much of Africa, Asia and even parts of the Middle East that have warm relations with Israel. Therefore it would be a no brainer for a future secular and free Iran to obtain this same cutting edge water technology and assistance from its own neighbor in the Middle East!

Expertise in Emergency Humanitarian Support

For many decades, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and other non-profit organizations have been at the forefront of sending their emergency response teams to various countries around the world hit by natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes and horrific storms. The Israeli teams have not only included search and rescue personnel, but medical experts that have set up temporary field hospitals to aid the sick and hurt in these countries after their natural disasters. These Israeli teams have carried out such projects not for publicity, money or praise from the rest of the world, but just to help all of humanity.

This being said, such Israeli emergency response teams of medical and other humanitarian experts must be sent immediately into Iran after the regime collapses. Such Israelis teams would not only to help sick and poverty-stricken Iranians that have been neglected by the Islamic regime in the major cities, but to get immediate medical help to millions of Iranians in rural villages and towns that have not had doctors and medical personnel to treat their health issues. Without a doubt field hospitals should be set up by the IDF in key areas of Iran to help those in need.

Again, Israeli humanitarian aid to Iran is not a new phenomenon. Prior to 1979, Israeli emergency teams have helped save the lives of countless Iranians after earthquakes and flood that hit the country. In April 1960, the Iranian city of Lar was struck with a horrific 6.1 earthquake killing nearly 500 Iranians. Likewise in May 1962 northern part of the city of Tehran encountered severe flooding. And in September 1962 the Iranian province of Qazvin was devastated by a 7.1 earthquake that killed more than 12,000 Iranians. In all three of these instances, Israel sent immediate emergency aid and assistance to help search for survivors and treat those injured. In all three instances, Israel never sought publicity nor any funds for offering to help the needy and devastated Iranians. If Israel had past success in helping Iranians in need inside Iran, it can without a doubt have success today in helping Iranians suffering due to health issues today on an emergency basis.

A Shared History & Friendship

I am often asked by non-Iranians if future cooperation between the peoples of Iran and Israel is possible despite nearly 50 years of the Islamic regime preaching vile genocidal hatred to the Iranian population. The answer is simply yes. The Islamic regime in Iran has not only failed to brainwash the majority of Iran’s 90 million population to hate Israel, but has caused Iranians to examine their past warm history of cooperation with Israelis and the Jewish people.

Not only was Iran’s ancient founder and king Cyrus the Great recognized as the liberator of the Jewish people held in Babylonian captivity, but all of Iran’s ancient Achaemenid rulers were benevolent to the Jewish people. In modern times, countless Jews in Europe and the Soviet Union found safe haven in Iran during the Nazi genocide of European Jewry during World War II. In fact, during the war Iranian diplomat in France, Abdol Hossein Sardari gave critical assistance to Iranians Jews and other European Jews trapped in Nazi-occupied France to avoid being sent to Nazi death camps for extermination. After 1948 and into the 1970s, the late Shah of Iran gave safe haven to thousands of Jews fleeing persecution and imprisonment in Iraq to come to Iran before emigrating to Israel.

The ancient friendship between Iranians and the Jewish people endured to the modern era and is still in place today despite the efforts of the Islamic regime to the contrary since 1979. One need only look to social media platforms today to see the millions of messages of love, friendship and support expressed by people inside Iran for Israel and Israelis today. Some Iranians inside Iran have even risked their own lives by photographing themselves holding Israeli flags inside Iran and posting them on social media platforms. Likewise, Iranians living in diaspora have publicly expressed their support for Israel after the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks on innocent Israelis by appearing at pro-Israel rallies in the U.S., Europe, Canada and Australia. These Iranians living outside Iran have shown up at their own rallies holding Israeli flags and proudly supporting Israelis because they are aware of the deep roots of friendship that exist today between the peoples of Iran and Israel. Let us remember that unlike much of the rest of the Middle East, the people of Iran are NOT Arabs and a large majority harbor no hatred for the Jewish nor Israeli people.

Today, as Iranians inside Iran faces countless humanitarian crises, it seems that their oldest and closest friends, the Jews/Israelis who have such a warm shared history are in the best position to help the people of Iran on an emergency basis once the Islamic regime ceases to hold power in Iran. Israel’s close proximity to Iran, expertise in past help to Iranians and close past alliance with the Iranian people make it the ideal candidate to provide immediate help the suffering people of Iran once the current Islamic regime is gone. Today it would be wise for Israeli political and military officials to create some sort of contingency “Marshal Plan” to immediately help the people of Iran to the best of their ability for emergency humanitarian help for day after the Ayatollahs are stricken from power or fall from power inside Iran. Such a plan would undoubtedly help save millions of lives and avoid a cataphoric humanitarian disaster inside Iran.
