The big talking point was Marcus Rashford not playing any part in Ireland, despite travelling with his team-mates having returned to his boyhood club after a 19-month absence that spanned two loan spells at Aston Villa and Barcelona as a result of his falling out with former boss Ruben Amorim. Michael Carrick, the current United manager, insisted that the England international was still not ready to return to action, instead being preserved for the final friendly of the summer, which incidentally will be against Amorim and AC Milan.
