The teams faced off at two joint practices earlier in the week, and the starters got a lot of good work after most of them sat for their first preseason game against the Ravens. Eagles OC Sean Mannion explained that they like to use these games to better evaluate some of the depth players and give them opportunities to put their skills on display. It’s also a good chance for the coaches to sideline staff to practice their game-day operations — Mannion, for his part, will probably end up calling plays from the sideline this season, but is experimenting from up in the booth on Saturday.
