A young woman has been rescued after allegedly being held captive and chained up for four days by her ex-husband. Dramatic footage captures the moment police forced their way into a property and discovered the room where Emiliane Tamara Nunes Carvalho was being detained.
The 24-year-old can be seen shaking violently while gagged and chained to a bed. Emiliane was last spotted on CCTV around 1 p.m. on 17 August, after exiting a clinic in Águas Lindas de Goiás, Brazil, and walking across a footbridge.
She then went silent, failing to respond to calls and messages, which led to police being notified of her disappearance. During their investigation, authorities uncovered a history of domestic violence involving her ex-partner, Ailton Rodrigues, who had also vanished since leaving work on Aug 17.
Detectives learned that he had purchased a new vehicle, which was seen being driven through Águas Lindas de Goiás on Friday, Aug 21, leading to his arrest. Officers then tracked down a house he had rented, which was secured with chains and a padlock.
After hearing sounds from within, police forced entry and discovered Emiliane restrained and gasping for air in one of the rooms. Rodrigues admitted to drugging her with antidepressants and transporting her to the location, according to authorities, reports the Daily Star.

Rodrigues is expected to face charges of kidnapping and illegal firearm possession after police recovered a 9mm pistol at the location. The reason for the crime is still under investigation.
However, a letter discovered at the property indicated Emiliane worried she could be murdered, as she instructed her family not to contact the police and arranged for her possessions. According to Emiliane, her relationship with Rodrigues had concluded in December 2025.

She disclosed online: “I’m completely burned inside because he used to put acid-soaked cloths inside me.”
Emiliane added, “I ask for everyone’s help and support to keep holding my hand so we can win this battle and stop him from hurting any more women.”
