A man died following a fatal house fire on Stanley Road in Hoylake
A man has died following a fatal house fire. Emergency services were called to Stanley Road in Hoylake at around 3am on Thursday, August 7 following a report of a blaze coming from the living room of a house.
Crews found the fire had spread to the first floor of the house and two teams of two firefighters were sent to the scene, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said. During the search of the property, the 75-year-old man’s body was found.
The man was sadly declared dead at the scene by paramedics from North West Ambulance Service. Scottish Power and Cadent also attended to isolate utilities.
A spokesperson for the fire service said following multi-agency meetings between MFRS, Merseyside Police, and North West Ambulance Service (NWAS), the fire was extinguished at around 5am.
The full statement from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said: “Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) attended an incident on Stanley Road, Hoylake, on the morning of Thursday, August 7.
“Crews were alerted at 2.54am and on scene at 3.02am with five fire engines attending for breathing apparatus (BA). This was in response to reports of a fire in the living room of a house.

“Two teams of two firefighters in BA were committed with two high pressure hose reels to search and fight the fire.
“Unfortunately, the fire had spread to the first floor, one BA team tackled the first floor with one high pressure hose reel and one BA team remained on the ground floor firefighting with a 52ml branch.
“Following multi-agency meetings between MFRS, Merseyside Police, and North West Ambulance Service (NWAS), the fire was extinguished at around 05.00.
“Crews continued to damp down the scene and search the property. Sadly, during the search the occupant’s body was discovered and declared deceased at the scene by North West Ambulance Service.
“Scottish Power and Cadent also attended to isolate utilities. MFRS personnel ventilated the property and hot-spotted affected areas before leaving the scene at 7.22am.”
Pictures of the scene showed the ground floor windows boarded up and items left in the garden.
Remnants of black smoke could also be seen below one of the first floor windows.
