QUEBEC — A new public opinion poll has placed the Coalition Avenir Québec and the Parti Québécois statistically tied in support.

As the general election campaign entered its second day Friday, a Synopsis poll conducted for La Presse showed the CAQ under Leader Christine Fréchette has surged seven percentage points in two weeks.

The CAQ is now challenging the PQ for first place, a spot the party dominated for months before the election call Thursday.
