EUGENE, Ore. — Some Eugene residents may have been awakened early Friday morning by an emergency alert during a SWAT response on Archie Street.
Eugene police said officers arrived just after 1 a.m. Aug. 28 at a home in the 300 block of Archie Street to serve a search warrant. The warrant stemmed from a report police received around 11:30 a.m. Aug. 27 and an investigation by the department’s Violent Crimes Unit.
Police said the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Scout Monroe Stripedwolf, was being investigated for coercion, menacing, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of body armor.
According to EPD, Stripedwolf refused commands from the SWAT team to come out of the home. Police evacuated nearby residents and sent an emergency alert asking people in the area to evacuate or shelter in place because they believed Stripedwolf could be armed with high-powered rifles and body armor.
Multiple specialized units responded, including the SWAT team, Crisis Negotiation Team, Drone Team, Street Crimes Unit, Explosive Disposal Unit, Special Investigations Unit and Violent Crimes Unit.
Police took Stripedwolf into custody at about 1:44 a.m. The shelter-in-place alert was then lifted.
The investigation remains ongoing.
