A proper robbery on the South Coast! Bournemouth logic dictated an easy home win with the way Đorđe Petrović was playing between the sticks, but skipper James Tarkowski popped up in the 91st minute to grab a point that Everton barely earned on the balance of second-half play.
Jordan Pickford – 7
Could do very little about Alex Scott’s clinical strike into the far corner after Evanilson did the groundwork. Made two solid second-half saves to keep Everton within striking distance.
Merlin Röhl – 5
Deployed in a hybrid role on the right, he put in the hard yards defensively against Marcus Tavernier but struggled to offer quality service moving forward and was making a number of mistakes. Subbed off late as Moyes chased the game.
James Tarkowski – 8 (Man of the Match)
Turned inside out by Evanilson in the buildup to Scott’s goal, but more than redeemed himself. Led the backline doggedly under pressure and produced the captain’s moment right when it mattered, firing home a great strike in stoppage time.
Jarrad Branthwaite – 7
Swept up well behind Tarkowski and made a couple of crucial interceptions when Bournemouth threatened to kill the game off on the break.
Vitalii Mykolenko – 6
Solid enough defensively against Rayan and made some crucial blocks, but missed a couple of chances to deliver quality crosses when Everton controlled early periods.
Harrison Armstrong – 7
The youngster continues to show brilliant composure beyond his years. Showed neat touches in tight spaces before making way for Alcaraz on 86 minutes as the kitchen sink was readied.
James Garner – 5
Battled hard in the middle but picked up a booking on 59 minutes and struggled to stem the flow when Bournemouth took control of the tempo. Hooked shortly after.
Tyrique George – 6
Direct and eager, but found Adrien Truffert a tough customer to crack down the flank. Replaced by Brennan Johnson just after the hour mark.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 7
Everton’s brightest spark in possession during the first half, always looking to drive forward, unlocking space and testing Petrović, but faded somewhat after the break.
Iliman Ndiaye – 6
Always a threat with his feet, drawing fouls in dangerous areas, but lacked the killer final product the afternoon and his display required to break down Petrović earlier.
Thierno Barry – 5
Fresh off his midweek hat-trick at Preston, he found life much harder against António Silva and James Hill. Plenty of effort but at least two tremendous chances that a real striker would have had for breakfast.
Substitutes
Hayden Hackney (61′ for Garner) – 6: Brought some calm and tidy distribution to the midfield.
Brennan Johnson (61′ for George) – 6: Added pace out wide and kept Bournemouth’s full-backs honest late on.
Beto (69′ for Barry) – 6: Caused mayhem in the box with his physicality and helped unsettle the Cherries’ defense leading up to the corner for the equalizer.
Tim Iroegbunam (86′ for Röhl) – N/A: Came on late for the final push but fouled his man straightaway.
Charly Alcaraz (86′ for Armstrong) – N/A: Picked up a late yellow card in stoppage time that thankfully did not lead to a winning goal for Bournemouth.

Harsh on Barry, I agree he should have had a couple but you have to be there to miss them in the first place.
First one he just hit, most of the time that just goes in, typical scrappy goal, but not to be. Second one he should do a lot better. Last one he stayed composed to draw the man in, beat him and attempt to slot, imo he was a bit unlucky.
Ndiaye and Hall both played poor, got the last bit wrong too many times, I’d have left George on over Ndiaye today if I’m honest.
There goal was a shit show, George lost the ball far too easily, Pick could have come out and never, Tarks was lost like he was at sea, Myklenko didn’t do enough either, very poor goal all round.
Got to get these signing in ASAP, and clearly selling Armstrong would be criminal, simply can’t happen, glad the travelling fans made sure the club heard out thoughts !

Dewsbury-Hall is very hit or miss for me, he tries hard to drive us on and he has definitely improved us; however, he never started many games for Chelsea and there is a reason for that…
You can see it with us: he can lose the ball and his passing needs to be better, he drifts out of games too easily for me.
Not good enough for Chelsea… but good enough for us, for now… that’s just the situation.
If rumours are true that there are clubs looking to sign Beto, please just take him, he just drives me mad!

Agree with Ian, we looked threatening at times but I didn’t see any standout performers.
I’d say Ndiaye was our best player, and whilst you’d hope Barry would score, it’s been a while since we’ve seen a player repeatedly getting in the position to score with clever runs.
It wasn’t the best team performance but we were well worth the point, and that’s progress.

Illy was excellent in our half of the pitch. They double and triple up on him when hes attacking so it slows us up, but we dont make use of the space it creates. When we had Grealish is that situation he would release the ball better. Our midfield lay so many chances on a plate then see our two strikers miss them, it must be so frustrating. Garner clearly isnt fit yet he couldnt track back with Scott for their goal. Give him and Hackney half a game each for the next few games. Myko is slowly learning to overlap. Branthwaite was class. Röhl is learning on the job. My MOM was Myko. But good to see some better quality from the bench now.

Thought Garner was understandably off the pace and should have been taken off about 10 minutes before he eventually did. Mykolenko had one of his better games. George is going to frustrate as he develops so hopefully, he gets some slack from the fanbase. I know it’s only paper talk atm, but I can’t believe the club would even consider selling Armstrong. But then again, the club shouldn’t have to respond to every rumour that develops. Massive statement from the club if we do sell though.

Mykos two consecutive blocks late were gamesavers. That was hero stuff right there. He also made a couple of very nice touch passes, and he has raised his game significantly in the passing department.
Brathwaite, KDH, Tarks and Ndiaye all made poor decisions on passes. Garner had one really ugly giveaway, but then made an immediate recovery. Meanwhile, Armstrong‘s disposal on the ball continues to be virtually flawless. He has grown enormously over the past year.

Tarkowskis lack of pace and repeated unforced errors are becoming a serious problem, regardless of the late goal. OBrien must be shaking his head on the bench. Merlin Rohl struggled a bit today at full-back, but he worked hard.
Mykolenko was average, as usual – he was jogging back for the first goal and was sat down for the counter attack near the end when Bournemouth should have wrapped it up. Not good enough in defence or attack if we are to be a serious top 10 team.
Armstrong and Dewsbury-Hall stood out in midfield. But where are the goals going to come from in this team? If you think Grealishs goals and assists wouldnt be an asset to this team then I am amazed.
KDH and Barry look like the only ones who might threaten a goal, while there is very ilittle in terms of goal threat from the wingers or midfield. Barry is at least getting himself into the right positions this season, but his misses today were poor.
