MAP: Wildfire smoke could impact air quality in Northern California on Monday
Fires burning in Monterey County produced smoke that is impacting other parts of Northern California on Monday.
The Plaskett Fire has burned more than 15,000 acres and the Timber Fire 24,000 acres, according to Cal Fire. Both fires have led to evacuation orders.
Meteorologist Heather Waldman said winds have pushed smoke from the fires inland, and some of that sank to areas of about 3,000-feet elevation overnight.
Those in areas along or east of the Highway 49 corridor should keep their windows closed because of the smoke impacts.
