FRANKFORT, Ill. (WLS) — A two-year-old child died in a domestic homicide in Frankfort and the child’s mother was hospitalized after hurting herself Tuesday, police said.
Frankfort police said they responded at about 4:04 p.m. Tuesday for an unresponsive child found in a home in the 22700-block of Brook Stone Court.

Officers arrived and performed CPR on the two-year-old child, who was transported to a hospital and later pronounced dead, police said.
Police said the child’s mother was found attempting to hurt herself and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said they are investigating the incident as a domestic-related homicide.
One neighbor who did not want to be identified noticed the commotion and said investigators had been at the usually quiet cul-de-sac well into the night.
“I’m very shocked,” the neighbor said. “I can’t believe that I’m seeing police tape you know and really, not knowing what’s going on.”
Carolyn Pappas was among those shaken upon hearing the news about the domestic incident.
“This is just absolutely heartbreaking to understand what happened a couple blocks away and that it’s impacting our community,” neighborhood resident Carolyn Pappas said.
Melvin Woods Jr. is another one.
“This is a community where we never any issues of this sort so it kind of struck me,” Woods Jr. said.
Many in the area said the ordeal has been devastating to community left heartbroken by the tragedy.
“Scared obviously for a community that’s something so we could be suffering potentially so badly next-door and we don’t know that it’s an opportunity for us all to check on one another to make sure that we’re all there for one another,” Pappas said.
