Deadly crash shuts down Highway 99 near Sacramento-San Joaquin county line, CHP says
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. —
All lanes on Highway 99 are blocked after a deadly multi-vehicle crash involving big rigs Wednesday afternoon, impacting traffic in Sacramento and San Joaquin counties, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP said the crash involved two big rigs and two pickup trucks around 12:50 p.m. on southbound Highway 99 south of Jahant Road in the Galt area.
At least one person died in the crash. A woman on scene told KCRA 3’s Anahita Jafary that her son, 24-year-old Jonathan Cervantes Torres, was killed.
There is no estimated time of reopening. Caltrans maps show traffic is impacted from Acampo to Galt.
Details were not released on what prompted the crash and the extent of any other injuries.
