CORNELIUS, Ore. (KPTV) – A 42-year-old man faces six charges, including kidnapping and attempted murder, after a teenager escaped an assault in a hidden room of a local business, according to police.
Deputies arrested Daniel Le Brun early Friday morning after an hours-long standoff at Crossroads Gaming inside the Plaza Grande business complex on North Adair Street.
Authorities say it started when a teenager ran to the Cornelius Police Department on the night of Thursday, Aug. 27 after fighting off Le Brun. Investigators say they later discovered a concealed room inside the business complex, where the assault took place.
When deputies arrived, Le Brun barricaded himself in the game store, which is one of the businesses in the plaza. Armed with knives and several “less-lethal-style guns,” he refused to surrender. SWAT teams and negotiators used a drone to watch Le Brun’s movements before taking him into custody around 1 a.m. on Aug. 28.
Le Brun was taken to a hospital after swallowing a dangerous amount of medication. He was booked into the Washington County Jail on Sept. 1, and made his first appearance at the Washington County Courthouse on Wednesday, on the following charges:

The game store’s operations manager Aaron Slater said Le Brun was previously married to the shop’s owner. He said Le Brun is unhoused, often hung out at the store, and kept his valuables there.
“Pure and utter shock,” Slater said. “It’s still setting in because I’ve gotten to know Daniel quite a bit over the years. I know he has a lot of demons internally that he would fight, mental health. But especially the sexual activity, I’m just utterly amazed and shocked and still in denial in my head.”
As Slater comes to terms with the allegations, he said he wants the community and their loyal customers to know they had no indication Le Brun allegedly acted inappropriately with children and teens.
“We had nothing to do with the incident,” he said. “We are continuing operating as Crossroads Gaming that will be a 100% safe place and secure at all times.”
Detectives worry there may be other victims. They ask anyone with information to call 503-846-2500 and refer to case number 50-26-12158. Investigators also urge parents whose children visited the store to ask them about any contact they had with Le Brun.
