Mark Sanchez has agreed to plead guilty to resolve charges that he attacked a man who then stabbed him in self-defense. And Sanchez is close to resolving the victim’s civil case, as well.
Legal counsel to both Sanchez and his victim, a 69-year-old truck driver named Perry Tole, released statements saying they are close to an agreement to resolve the matter.
“This is a positive development,” said Nick Sanchez Jr., legal advisor to Mark Sanchez. “We are finalizing an agreement with the prosecutor’s office that provides a path toward resolving the state’s case. We’re also encouraged by the constructive conversations taking place regarding the related civil matter. There is real momentum toward bringing this entire chapter to a close.”
Matt Golitko, the attorney for Tole, also released a statement.
“We are pleased with the constructive and professional conversations we’ve had with Mr. Sanchez’s team,” Golitko said. “Our discussions have been productive and we’re on a positive path toward an agreement that will allow the parties to move forward. Mr. Tole appreciates the progress we have achieved and looks forward to an amicable resolution.”
Sanchez played in the NFL for a decade and then became a commentator for Fox Sports. He was in Indianapolis to call a Colts game for Fox when he allegedly attacked Tole in October of last year. Fox fired Sanchez for his conduct.
