2 killed in single-vehicle Solano County crash on I-80

Two people died in a single-vehicle crash in Solano County on Sunday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP said a 911 call was made around 12:28 p.m. about a vehicle veering off of Interstate 80 near the Highway 113 interchange. Investigators determined an Infiniti SUV was headed eastbound when it left the roadway for unknown reasons and crashed into an embankment on the right shoulder.
When emergency responders arrived to the scene they found two people inside the vehicle, a 56-year-old woman from Dixon who was driving the vehicle, and 65-year-old man from Vacaville.
According to CHP, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man was pronounced dead in an ambulance en route to a hospital after suffering major injuries.
The identities of the crash victims have not yet been released.
A witness reported that the driver appeared to be asleep at the wheel prior to the crash, CHP said.
It is still unclear whether, drugs, alcohol or a medical emergency were factors in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
