Israeli troops located and killed a Palestinian terrorist who stabbed an Israeli man at a West Bank farming outpost on Monday after the attacker fled the scene, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.
The Israeli, a man around 20 years old, was stabbed multiple times at the Maoz Yehuda settlement farm near the Palestinian village of Usarin. Magen David Adom said he was in moderate-to-serious condition.
Troops searching for the attacker located him in a nearby village next to his vehicle. The Palestinian then attempted to stab the soldiers, and a company commander from the 411th Artillery Battalion shot and killed him, according to the military.
The attack began when the Palestinian arrived by vehicle at the Maoz Yehuda farming outpost and stabbed the Israeli before fleeing, according to the Rescuers Without Borders emergency service. The IDF dispatched troops to the Usarin area after receiving reports of the stabbing. The military described the attacker as a “terrorist armed with a knife” and launched a manhunt after he escaped.
“Numerous IDF troops” were sent to search for the attacker, while the military imposed closures on nearby Palestinian towns.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded after the attacker was killed, declaring that “no terrorist has a safe haven.”
“We will continue to eliminate terrorists, pursue those who send them, and destroy the terrorist infrastructure in Judea and Samaria,” Netanyahu said, using the biblical term for the West Bank.
“Anyone who tries to threaten Israel and its citizens will pay a heavy price,” he said.
