The plane had two crew members on board and was arriving from Puerto Rico in what was its third flight that day, Homendy says.

She says the plane overran the runway, striking navigational aids and equipment, before hitting a white Ford van, owned by a contract cleaning company. There were seven people in the van.

The aircraft then went through the perimeter fence and collided with a Toyota Corolla which was travelling northwest on 67 Avenue.

The plane ended up about 1,300ft (394m) past the runway, she adds.
