GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) — Two people were killed following a shooting at an AT&T store Monday morning.
According to Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer, 31-year-old Shane Basquill, of Kiln, and 78-year-old Mary Anne Oberlies, of Gulfport, died in the shooting.
Switzer said Basquill was an employee at the store and Oberlies was a customer.
The shooting happened around 11:14 a.m. inside the store at Crossroads Mall.

A witness on scene told WLOX that they saw the suspect — identified by Gulfport Police Department as 71-year-old Samuel Jerome Andrews of Harrison County — pull up to the curb outside the store, get out of the vehicle with a shotgun, and head toward the door.

A witness said Andrews shot through the door of the store before entering.
GPD said Andrews entered the store and fired the gun, hitting Basquill and Oberlies. Both victims died on scene.
GPD said there were three other people in the store at the time of the shooting. Those who called 911 were able to give police a description of Andrews’ vehicle.
GPD said responding officers saw Andrews’ vehicle fleeing the scene. Officers then conducted a traffic stop. Andrews was taken into custody without incident, and a gun was recovered.
Andrews was taken to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held on no bond for two counts of first-degree murder and a $500,000 bond for one count of shooting into a crowd.
The investigation is ongoing. GPD has not provided information about a possible motive.
WLOX reporter Noah Noble was on scene Monday afternoon and observed a bullet hole in the front door of the store and two shell casings on the ground outside. WLOX is speaking with witnesses about what they saw and will have more on that this evening.
