Lindsay Clancy’s defense lawyer described the killer mom’s dark new reality in the wake of her triple murder mistrial – and revealed the harrowing phrase she “constantly” repeats.
“I want my babies. I want my babies,” defense attorney Kevin Reddington told NBC News Wednesday.
Reddington’s response came after he was asked whether Clancy, 36, still talks about Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan – who she fatally strangled with exercise bands inside their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home before trying to take her own life in January 2023.
She asks about them “all the time,” Reddington said.

Reddington is on a national media blitz while awaiting word on whether the Plymouth County District Attorney will seek a new trial, offer a plea deal or possibly downgrade the charges and request a judge to oversee a bench trial.
The former labor and delivery nurse’s widely watched murder trial ended Friday in a hung jury with an 11-1 split and a mistrial after seven days of deliberations.
Reddington, 75, argued Clancy was in the throes of postpartum psychosis during the killings — while prosecutors claimed she carefully planned the deaths.
Judge William Sullivan was forced to declare a mistrial after a lone male holdout couldn’t agree with the other 11 jurors that Clancy should be found not guilty by reason of insanity, following 38 grueling hours of deliberation.
Clancy “has bad days and she has worse days,” Reddington said Wednesday, echoing what forensic psychologist Dr. Paul Zeizel testified about the mom’s mental state.
Clancy is currently being held at state-run psychiatric facility Tewksbury Hospital. During the trial, Zeizel revealed she is “on a constant one-to-one” to ensure she doesn’t take her own life.

But Reddington – who has also made a public plea for President Trump’s help with his controversial client’s case – remains adamant that the mom’s horrific crimes don’t define her.
“Because that was not the Lindsay that is now living amongst us,” he told NBC.

Today, “The woman who’s living amongst us is the person who was the labor and delivery nurse for eight years that everybody loved. Neighbors, friends, cops, firefighters, teachers – everybody loved her.
“She was an incredible person, an amazing mother,” Reddington said.
Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz’s office has not yet announced how the case will proceed and whether it will retry Clancy on the same charges, downgrade the charges, seek a plea deal with her or drop the case altogether.
Reddington said Tuesday he would be willing to enter into plea talks with the DA — but “would not plead Lindsay Clancy to a day in jail.”
