Police now say 8 shot in Tuscaloosa near 22nd Street block party, including juveniles
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. —
Police now say eight people, including juveniles, were shot Saturday night in Tuscaloosa.
Tuscaloosa Police officers responded to a call at 10:48 p.m. in the 2600 block of 22nd Street. They found a large crowd and started treating victims until emergency medical services arrived. The shooting happened in an area that hosted a neighborhood block party earlier in the day. The party was permitted until 10 p.m.
Police initially reported seven victims, however, an additional victim later arrived at a hospital for treatment of a gunshot graze wound Sunday afternoon.
Three of the victims initially had serious injuries, but all were reported in stable condition as of Sunday morning. Several empty vehicles were also hit by bullets.
The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit said FBI Birmingham agents are assisting in this investigation and are asking for the public’s help.
Investigators are still interviewing witnesses, and no arrests have been made.
