As the search continues for D.C. mom Antoinette Forbes, who has not been seen or heard from in nine days, News4 has learned someone with the same name as the father of her child is in police custody in Pennsylvania.
News4 was able to confirm both with Pennsylvania State Police and with the Beaver County Jail that a man with the same name as her son’s father is in custody. Though they won’t say what the charges are, and News4 hasn’t been able to confirm the arrest was made in connection with Forbes’ disappearance.
Forbes was last seen near her Northwest D.C. home on Sept. 4, and loved ones said they last heard from her on Sept. 5. Her family said she did not connect to their weekly Sunday phone call.
Investigators have been seen going in and out of her house this past week, taking pictures and canvassing her vehicle. According to her friends, police indicated that no one was allowed in the home and appeared to be treating it as a crime scene.
Prior to her disappearance, Forbes had been involved in a years-long custody battle for her son, according to court records.
Close ones hosted a vigil inside the National Presbyterian Church Saturday night, where they came together in support and hope for Forbes’ fast return home. Rachel Clark is one of those friends. She says she’s known Forbes for more than a decade.
“She’s a devoted mom, sister, friend. She’s family to a lot of us who are here tonight as friends organizing this,” Clark said. “We miss her deeply. We are eager to bring her home.”
“I met her when I was 21 years old, and for the last 27 years, there’s been a friend group, five of us, that have gone through marriages, divorces, families growing, and we’re very we’re very interested in seeing her return to her son,” said Alison Williams, a close friend of Forbes who was at the vigil.
Forbes’ friends and family say when they went into her home, they found her two phones, wallet and car keys and that the front door was unlocked. They now ask anyone that may have information to contact D.C. police.
