Durham police are investigating a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Knightwood Drive and Bengel Drive.
Officers learned a young male was struck head-on by a vehicle while riding a bicycle. The juvenile was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said that, around 12:43 p.m., a female driver in a 2020 Hyundai Palisade was traveling north on Knightwood Drive. At the same time, the male juvenile was riding a bicycle in the middle of the road after turning from Bengel Drive onto Knightwood Drive.
Durham police say the driver and the male juvenile collided head-on shortly after the juvenile entered the roadway on Knightwood Drive.
No charges have been filed at this time. The incident remains under investigation, and additional information will be released at an appropriate time.
