Celtic will go to Kazakhstan knowing that they have serious work to do in order to reach the Champions League main phase.
Kairat thought they had taken the lead early doors after a cross from danger man Dastan Satpaev was turned in, only for the linesman to flag for offside.
The story of the first half though was the injury to Alistair Johnston which saw the right-back stretchered off 10 minutes before half time.
That was about as good as it got though as the Hoops looked tired and lacklustre, failing to create any significant sort of chance, meaning they must head all the way to Almaty knowing they HAVE to win.

A very quiet night in goal for the Celtic ‘keeper but he did his job and made sure that Celtic weren’t going to Kazakhstan with a deficit to make up.
Alistair Johnston – 6/10
Was having a solid game before his game was cruelly ended by injury. Fingers crossed it’s not too serious.
Cameron Carter-Vickers – 6/10
Not his greatest game by any means. Had one lapse of concentration that almost allowed Kairat to score a wonder goal,
Liam Scales – 6/10
Didn’t do too much of note but right now, he is the only option that can help cover the left-back role as Celtic continue to manage Tierney’s workload.

Was yellow carded in the first half and looked cautious to commit after that. Lasted 75 minutes though, which is a positive.
Reo Hatate – 5/10
Muscled off the ball far too many times and couldn’t find that killer pass at all
Callum McGregor (C) – 5/10
Wasn’t able to control the midfield like he usually does and even looked sloppy at times.
Benjamin Nygren – 6/10
Made a couple of good runs and nice passes with the ball, but nothing too flashy of note.
James Forrest – 5/10
Some bright moments here and there but nothing that drastically changed the game
Adam Idah – 4/10
Hooked at half time after offering very little. That seems to suggest that Rodgers will be looking at his other striking options.

Quiet night from the man you would consider to be the leading Celtic talisman as he also wasted the best chance of the night.
SubstitutesAnthony Ralston – 6/10
Did his job in the right-back slot but looked a bit leggy due to his lack of match action this season.
Hyunjun Yang – 7/10
Looked lively when he came on and seemed like the only Celtic player willing to take on his opponents and make something happen.
Arne Engels – 7/10
Came on and looked like he was here to prove a point. Some strong attacking runs, set pieces looked dangerous and
Auston Trusty – 6/10
Filled the role in centre-back next to Carter-Vickers once Scales moved over to left-back.
Shin Yamada – 6/10
Very raw and still needs lots of his work but you can’t fault his work ethic and desire to run.
