This aerial from the CTV News / CP24 chopper shows lanes closed on Highway 401 near Markham Rd. in Scarborough.
All eastbound express lanes on Hwy. 401 in Scarborough are closed following a single-vehicle collision involving a delivery truck.
The closure went into effect at around 11 a.m. after the truck struck a guide rail on the highway.
The closure begins at Neilson Avenue and extends to Meadowvale Avenue.
Ontario Provincial Police say that the 62-year-old driver of the delivery truck was taken to hospital following the crash where he was pronounced dead.
OPP say that a sudden death investigation is underway.
The eastbound collector lanes remain open but CP24 traffic specialist Sonia Sache says that “traffic is absolutely slammed” starting at Markham Road.
The OPP say that the highway is not expected to reopen until 3 p.m.
