The former Gers footballer shared the tragic news on social media this afternoon confirming the death of his stepson.

Nacho Novo’s stepson has tragically passed away aged just 26. The Rangers legend, who is currently the manager of Darvel FC, shared the tragic news of Ross’s passing on his Instagram, saying he was “absolutely broken”.
The 47-year-old wrote: “Nothing in my life could’ve prepared me for this post. We are absolutely broken to share the sad news that our beautiful boy has tragically passed away.
“Please respect our families privacy during this extremely difficult time. Forever in our hearts my boy”.
Ross’s mum Donna Clark also paid tribute. Sharing a picture of her son, Nacho’s ex-wife wrote: “Nothing in my life could’ve prepared me for this post. We are absolutely broken to share the sad news that our beautiful boy has tragically passed away.”
Ross’s 16-year-old brother posted an emotional tribute on Tiktok, writing: “U were the best ever”, while the song Dancing in the Sky played over the video.

He added: “Rest in peace to my big brother. Going to miss you so much. Hope you’re okay and safe up there. Thanks for always looking after me. I love you so so much, I can’t believe it’s true. You were the best brother ever. Forever 26.”
More than 100 people have flocked to the comments to share their support. Ross’s cause of death has currently not been disclosed but heartfelt tributes have quickly started pouring in from the footballing world.
Sports broadcaster Laura Woods wrote: “I’m so sorry for your loss Nacho, rest in peace your beautiful boy”.
Wrestling star Grado commented: “So sorry to hear this Nacho – absolutely heart breaking. My thoughts are with you and your family.”
Gers fan page Rangers Til’ I Die shared on Facebook: “Our thoughts are with Nacho Novo and his family following the heartbreaking news of the passing of his son. During this incredibly difficult time, the entire Rangers family stands behind you and your loved ones. Sending you strength and love.”
Michael Mols also left his thoughts and prayers to the Rangers favourite. He wrote: “Unbelievable Nacho. My thoughts and prayers and my condolences.”
Fellow ex-Rangers player Steven Davis posted: “Thoughts with you all at this difficult time.”
Oswalds Bar, a Rangers pub in Glasgow city centre, added: “Our thoughts are with you Nacho”.
Ex-footballer Nazmi Albadawi scribed: “Sorry for your loss brother”.
Ross McCausland, Craig Moore and Maurice Edu also sent their thoughts and prayers and a spokesperson for Rangers FC wrote: “The thoughts of everyone at Rangers are with you at this sad time Nacho.”

Nacho married now ex-wife Donna Clark, originally from Gourock, in 2015. The pair, who were in a long-term relationship before marrying, share a teenage son and Nacho is stepdad to Donna’s sons, the late Ross and Dylan.
The couple, who lived in Glasgow before the couple separated around 2017, wed at One Devonshire Gardens in front of friends and family with Novo’s ex-Rangers teammate Marvin Andrews as pastor.
The ex Rangers favourite was also previously in a relationship with mum-of-two Stephanie Heaney but the pair split around 2019.
The Spaniard, who was inducted into the Ibrox club’s Hall of Fame in 2014, retired from the game in 2017. The talent played over 250 games for Rangers scoring 70 goals during his time at Ibrox.
He won three league titles and three league cups alongside two Scottish Cup triumphs during his time at the club. He also played for Raith Rovers, Dundee and and Greenock Morton during his time in Scotland.
The ex-pro suffered a heart attack while playing for a Rangers legends team in Berlin and had emergency surgery to save his life in 2018.
Nacho was appointed Darvel FC manager in November last year after a stint coaching at West of Scotland Premier side Drumchapel.
The club said they were ‘delighted’ to appoint the former Ibrox striker who netted 47 times across 179 appearances for the Light Blues.
Darvel expressed their condolences at their manager’s loss, writing on Facebook: “All at Darvel Football Club are devastated by the tragic news of the passing of our Team Manager, Nacho Novo’s, stepson Ross at the young age of 26.
“The club’s thoughts are with Nacho and his family at this sad time and we ask that everyone respects the families’ privacy during this extremely difficult time.”
