The IDF published a summary of Operation Gideon’s Chariots on Wednesday and revealed that its forces have achieved operational control over approximately 75% of the Gaza Strip. This advancement has enabled the military to expand its activities, strike Hamas’ infrastructure, and weaken its chain of command.

As part of the operation, the IDF established two central corridors:

The “Morag” Corridor, separating Hamas’ Rafah and Khan Yunis Brigades.

The “Magen Oz” Corridor, dividing the Khan Yunis Brigade from east to west.

Since March 18, approximately 10,000 terror targets have been struck by hundreds of fighter jets, aircraft, and naval vessels belonging to the Israeli Air Force and Navy. In the most significant strike, on May 13, a joint IDF-ISA operation in Khan Yunis eliminated senior Hamas leaders Mohammad Sinwar, head of the terrorist organization’s military wing; Mohammad Shabaneh, commander of Hamas’ Rafah Brigade; and Mahdi Quara, commander of the South Khan Yunis Battalion.

Additional eliminations included commanders in Hamas’ General Security Apparatus, six senior commanders in the naval commando unit, dozens of terrorists who infiltrated Israel during the October 7th massacre, and hundreds of other terrorists and military commanders in Gaza.

Five IDF divisions – the 162nd, 143rd, 98th, 252nd, and 36th – operated simultaneously on the ground, while the 99th Division provided support. Troops located and dismantled dozens of terror tunnels, blocked escape routes for terrorists, and eliminated multiple Hamas cells and senior commanders.

The IDF stated that these operations have significantly degraded Hamas’ combat and command abilities and created conditions for increasing pressure on the terrorist organization. These achievements, the IDF added, serve as the basis for the next stage of operations in Gaza.
