NANAIMO — Mounties confirm one person was killed in an early morning motor vehicle incident in the city’s downtown.
Nanaimo RCMP were called to the Mid-Island Co-op gas bar at 60 Victoria Cres. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at around 6:45 a.m., after a 42-year-old woman was hit by a fuel truck.
BC RCMP E Division media relations officer staff sgt. Kris Clark told NanaimoNewsNOW the woman was pronounced deceased on scene.
“Investigation determined that a loaded gas tanker was backing into the parking lot and the vehicle struck a pedestrian who was seated or laying near the curb between the sidewalk and the parking lot at the entrance to the property.”
