Ms Maureen O’Reilly of St Anne’s Road and Lissivigeen passed away earlier this week.
The school in a moving tribute said she was a highly respected former teacher and vice principal who had left a lasting legacy in the school.

“Ms. O’Reilly dedicated many years to St. Brigid’s, leaving a lasting and positive impression on generations of students and staff. Her love for literature was infectious, and those fortunate enough to be in her classroom were inspired by her passion, depth of knowledge, and unwavering commitment to education,” they said.
“As vice principal, Maureen was known for her kindness, compassion, and approachability. She held high expectations for the young women of St. Brigid’s, always encouraging them to strive for excellence while supporting them with warmth and understanding.”
St Brigid’s Secondary School said she was a “much-admired colleague, a loyal friend, and a guiding presence in our school.”
” Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the values she instilled in our community,” their tribute continued.
They school extended their condolences to her family and friends and they have called upon current and former students to join in a guard of honour at 6.15p, tomorrow, Thursday, August 21.
Former students also paid tribute online to the teacher with one describing her as the ‘best teacher ever’.
Ms O’Reilly Funeral Mass will take place on Friday at St Mary’s Cathedral. She will repose at O’Shea’s Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
Her death notice said she died at home in the company of her life-long friends Maureen and Patrician Chevens. She was the beloved daughter of the late James and Mary and dearly loved sister of the late Joe, Fr Seamus, Dr Sean, Tim, Dermot and Frank (Fr David). She will sadly missed by her nieces and nephews and her extended family
Maureen was a member of the Franciscan Third Order.
The family have asked for donations in lieu of flowers to Kerry Mountain Rescue.
