Patrick Clancy’s wife, Dr. Rachel Danis, will join him during his appearance on 60 Minutes this Sunday. The interview is Patrick’s first since his ex-wife Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial ended in a mistrial on September 4. It also marks the first time Rachel has spoken publicly. In a preview clip shared by 60 Minutes, she said that the narrative surrounding her husband has been “twisted.”

“I don’t understand how the story has been so twisted,” Rachel said, “but I would hope people know that Pat is, as I said before, the most selfless father and supportive partner.”

“I was just a girl that met a guy running in Central Park on a really cold Saturday,” she said of her relationship with Patrick. “And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.” Rachel and Patrick got married this April and currently live in New York.

While his ex-wife was on trial for the murder of their three children, Patrick became a lightning rod for conspiracy theories. Despite the fact that Lindsay does not dispute that she killed her children —the trial was meant to determine if her mental state at the time allowed her to be criminally responsible — people still claimed that Patrick was involved in their deaths and that he was framing Lindsay. The conversation reached a point that Patrick’s lawyer threatened legal action against those participating in the “relentless, escalating, and destructive defamation campaign.”

“Enough is enough — this spread of blatant and baseless falsehoods must stop,” attorney Howard Cooper said in a statement earlier this month, in the wake of the mistrial. “Those responsible should understand that there will be consequences, and every appropriate measure will be pursued to hold them accountable, including legally. Law enforcement has been notified.”

Speaking to 60 Minutes’s Ross Douthat on his own, Patrick said that he still talks to his deceased children, Cora, Dawson, and Callan. He told Douthat that he asks them for help “all the time.” Douthat asked Patrick if they’re able to help him. “I like to believe they do,” Patrick said. “It’s a way I stay connected to them.”
