Hundreds of people paid tribute to the young man who died on Saturday

Tributes have been shared to a man who died after falling from a building in Liverpool city centre. Emergency services were called to the scene on Islington shortly after 1pm yesterday, Friday, September 18, to reports of a concern for safety of a man in his 20s on the roof of a building on Low Hill.
Emergency services arrived before the man then fell. He was taken to hospital where he died today, Saturday, and his family are now being support by Merseyside Police officers.
A spokesperson for the force said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and due to police attendance at the scene before he fell, a mandatory referral was made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) which is standard in such events.
Following the news on Saturday afternoon, hundreds of people paid tribute to the young man on social media.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a man has died following an incident in Islington yesterday, Friday 18 September.
“Just after 1pm, we received a report of a concern for safety of a man in his 20s, who was on the roof of a building on Low Hill. The man subsequently fell and was taken to hospital. He sadly passed away today (Saturday 19 September) and his family are being supported by officers.
“There are no suspicious circumstances. Due to police attendance at the scene shortly before the man sustained his injuries, a mandatory referral has been made to the IOPC which is standard practice in such events.”
