UMass Dartmouth freshman running back Marvins Antoine was stabbed to death at the age of 18 just after midnight Saturday, the school confirmed to The Post.

Antoine was pronounced dead upon arrival at Rhode Island hospital, per WPRI.

Fellow freshman, Kensley Macean was also stabbed, per the school, and hospitalized after suffering “non-life threatening injuries” in his head and neck area, according to WJAR.

An investigation is ongoing, according to Providence Police Major David Lapatin, and a suspect is being held in custody by the UMass Dartmouth police department, per WJAR.

“Our hearts and prayers are very much with Marvins’ family, friends, classmates, and teammates as we mourn his loss together,” UMass Dartmouth chancellor Mark A. Fuller said in a release.

“We also send our prayers and best wishes for Kensley’s recovery, and hope that he will be able to resume his education here soon. 

The pair of first-year football players spent time at Mezzo Lounge in Providence alongside teammates earlier in the night, according to WJAR.

Lapatin said a nightclub seemingly had become overcrowded before being closed off to patrons and a fight happened in a parking lot, according to WPRI.

The stabbings occurred around 12:30 a.m. ET in a Wendy’s parking lot on Charles Street in Providence, WJAR reported, citing police.

Dartmouth, Mass. and Providence are roughly 30 minutes apart.

“We believe the kids that were injured were college kids, probably 18, 19 years-old. And that’s about it for now,” Lapatin said, per WPRI.

Fuller said in the release that students are not in danger.

“Please be assured that we have no reason to believe there is any ongoing threat to the UMass Dartmouth community,” he wrote. “The appropriate law enforcement agencies are investigating the incident, and because this is an ongoing investigation, we cannot share more details at this time.”

Antoine, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound tailback from Boston who attended Durfee High School in Fall River, Mass., did not appear in any of the Corsairs’ three games this season.

UMass Dartmouth last played Friday night, falling 23-21 to Framingham State at home.

A friend described him to the Fall River reporter as “a great friend, and he just started college two weeks ago. He had a bright future ahead of him. He was always outgoing and funny and when you hung out with him, he never failed to make you laugh smile and have a good time.”

Macean is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound defensive back from Dighton, Mass., and attended Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School.

The business and engineering major also did not appear in a game.

The Corsairs are a Division III program and are 1-2 on the young season, and they return to the gridiron Saturday at home against Bridgton Academy.
