On the surface of it, the Netanyahu government’s outraged response to Britain’s plan to ban imports of settlement products and related measures seems all out of proportion. No one for a moment thinks that it will have any serious effect on Israeli exports, even if the other 11 countries that pledged similar measures really act on their promise. In any case, even if Britain does, in fact, go ahead with the sanctions, most of them will be easy enough to circumvent.
