A Colorado congresswoman is facing new allegations about what went on inside her own office, the Colorado Times Recorder reports. A sworn complaint filed with the House Ethics Committee accuses Rep. Lauren Boebert of having sexual relationships with three staffers she supervised, two of them women, allegedly violating a post-#MeToo House rule that bars members from sleeping with their employees.
The complaint, submitted by American Muckrakers’ David Wheeler under penalty of perjury, centers on an alleged relationship with Boebert’s longtime district director, Clarice Navarro, and claims Boebert arranged a $200,000 payment to keep Navarro from filing her own ethics complaint. Navarro calls the accusations “entirely false, defamatory, and beyond ridiculous.” Navarro’s ex-husband, quoted in the filing, said only that he “assumed this would eventually surface.”
Boebert responded by saying she’s straight, Page Six reports. In a statement obtained by People, her office called the allegations “a politically motivated stunt designed to manipulate the ethics process, create headlines, smear her, and generate clickbait.” Wheeler has previously made claims about Boebert citing unnamed sources, including a claim in 2022 that she used to work as a paid escort, and her office calls him “an activist who has long recycled sensational claims, including numerous baseless accusations previously fact-checked as false.”
