IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – The Iowa Board of Regents has accepted the resignations of 11 members of the University of Iowa’s Center for Intellectual Freedom (CIF) Advisory Council.
The members resigning are as follows:

Following the resignations, there are 15 remaining members of the CIF Advisory Council.
Board of Regents member and CIF Advisory Council Chair Christine Hensley issued a statement on the news in a release.
Henley shared, “We appreciate the work these individuals have put into the Center for Intellectual Freedom. The Board of Regents looks forward to working with the remaining 15 members of the CIF Advisory Council to keep the Center moving forward in a positive direction. The Board and the Advisory Council fully support helping CIF achieve its stated goals of providing scholarship on the intellectual foundation of free societies, the principles, ideals and institutions of the American constitutional order, and the foundations of responsible leadership and informed citizenship.”
The CIF paused classes until 2028 after underwhelming enrollment numbers and reports of controversy behind the scenes.
The Executive Committee of the Advisory Council will meet virtually on Friday, September 25 to continue their search for a permanent CIF director.
