UPDATE – CLEARED (5:44 p.m.): An increased police presence in Prince Edward County in the area of Loyalist Parkway between County Road 19 and Salem Road is clearing. All three individuals being sought by police have been arrested and are in custody. The OPP would like to thank the public for their cooperation and assistance in this investigation.
The reason for the investigation and road closure has not been released. More information is expected on Friday.
ORIGINAL STORY FROM 9:50 AM THURDAY – Prince Edward OPP are advising the public of a heavy police presence and an active search for multiple suspects in a possible home invasion in the Consecon area.
Reports started coming in on social media about police activity on Loyalist Parkway shortly after 9 am.
OPP posted the following message to their X account at 9:50 am.
HEAVY POLICE PRESENCE (9:50 a.m.): Prince Edward County OPP is advising the public of a heavy police presence in Consecon Village, in the area of Loyalist Parkway between County Road 19 and Salem Road. Officers are responding to a disturbance involving three suspects at large, described as Black males, wearing dark clothing. If you think you may see the suspect(s) or have any information, please call police at 1-888-310-1122 or 9-1-1. Members of the public are advised to avoid the area and follow any instructions provided by officers at the scene. Updates to follow as information becomes available.
