A fire broke out at an industrial facility in the southern Russia Krasnodar region overnight on Sept. 23 /24, while a separate drone incident damaged buildings at an oil depot in the neighboring Rostov region.
The Krasnodar region’s emergency headquarters said falling drone debris caused a fire at a facility in the Dinskaya district, without identifying the site. The Ukrainian monitoring channel Exilenova+ reported that the fire was at an oil depot in the village of Novotitarovskaya.

The governor of the Rostov region, Yury Slyusar, said administrative buildings at an oil depot in the Kagalnitsky district were damaged by falling drone debris. He said there was no fire and no one was injured. He said that Russian air defenses had also engaged drones near Taganrog and in the Neklinovsky district.
Moscow’s Defense Ministry said it had shot down 40 Ukrainian drones overnight across several Russian regions and occupied Crimea.
Earlier this week dozens of Ukrainian drones targeted industrial facilities in Russia’s Samara region overnight on Tuesday, Sept. 22 / 23 damaging civilian infrastructure and reportedly setting fire to a major Rosneft oil refinery.
Samara Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said the drones targeted industrial enterprises and that private homes and vehicles were also damaged. He did not report casualties.
The independent Russian news site Astra, citing eyewitness footage, identified the target in Samara as the Kuibyshev oil refinery, one of the region’s largest, saying a major fire broke out at the facility following the attack.

The refinery, owned by Russian state oil giant Rosneft, has a nominal annual capacity of seven million metric tons (7.7 million US tons) of crude. In 2024, it processed 4.7 million metric tons (5.8 million US tons) of crude, producing around 800,000 metric tons (882,000 US tons) of gasoline, 1.4 million metric tons (1.5 million US tons) of diesel, and 1.3 million metric tons (1.4 million US tons) of fuel oil.
The facility was previously targeted by Ukrainian drones in June. Reuters, citing industry sources, reported that at the time, the refinery had suspended processing following the attack.
