A nor’easter is strengthening near the East Coast. These cities will be hit hard.

A nor’easter was gaining strength around 200 miles east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, early Friday.

The intensifying storm is forecast to slowly move north in the days ahead and may approach or push ashore in New Jersey on Sunday — while lashing the stretch from the Carolinas to Maine with rain and strong winds as 15-to-25-foot waves tower offshore. That will contribute to potentially serious coastal flooding and beach erosion.
