MIDDLE TWP., N.J. — One person is dead after what officials say is an officer-involved shooting on Friday morning in Cape May County, New Jersey.
It’s happening near the Rio Grande Walmart Supercenter at Route 9 and Satt Blvd. in Middle Township.
Police were called to the scene around 10:30 a.m.

The Cape May Prosecutor’s Office is calling the incident an officer-involved shooting, though the circumstances of what happened were not released.
Prosecutors said the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office is investigating as required by state law.
Authorities say there is no threat to the public.
Roadways are closed in the area. Middle Township police wrote in a social media post that a detour will be set up around the scene.
The public is being asked to avoid the area.
