Ukrainian drones struck two major Russian oil refineries and a defense plant overnight, causing fires, damage and injuries, according to Russian officials and Ukrainian monitoring channels.
One of the main targets was the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez refinery in Perm, one of Russia’s 10 largest oil refineries. The facility can process more than 13 million metric tons of crude annually.

Footage published by Ukrainian monitoring channels showed a fire at the refinery. The Astra Telegram channel confirmed that Permnefteorgsintez was targeted, while preliminary reports said the fire broke out at the AVT-5 crude distillation unit.
Perm Governor Dmitry Makhonin confirmed a “massive UAV attack” and said an industrial facility had been targeted, without providing further details.
The refinery was previously attacked on Aug. 21.
Drones also struck the Iskra Plant in Ulyanovsk, part of Russia’s Almaz-Antey defense conglomerate. The facility produces semiconductor devices, microwave components and microelectronics used in missile systems.
Footage showed what appeared to be a drone hitting the plant, followed by an explosion.
Ulyanovsk Governor Alexei Russkikh said eight people, including a child, were injured. He also reported damage to industrial and civilian infrastructure.
Medical services were placed on heightened alert, with additional hospital beds prepared, according to Russkikh.

Another Russian refinery, the Novoshakhtinsk refinery in Rostov Oblast, was also hit overnight, regional Governor Yuri Slyusar said.
Slyusar said the refinery was damaged and suspended operations. He said around 50 drones were involved in the overnight attack on the region.
The Novoshakhtinsk refinery is the only oil refinery in Rostov Oblast and has an annual processing capacity of 5.6 million metric tons. Located about 100 kilometers from Rostov-on-Don, it produces gasoline, fuel oil, marine fuel, diesel and heating oil.
The facility was previously forced to halt operations following a Ukrainian drone attack last month.
