Donald Trump told aides that he intends to resume strikes on Iran after the midterm elections to Congress in November, The Wall Street Journal reports, citing U.S. government sources.

According to the newspaper, Trump rejected Iran’s offer of a seven-day ceasefire and doubts that Tehran will meet his demands. The U.S. president has not yet decided on the scale of any potential strikes. At the same time, the newspaper reports, he would not want to return to a large-scale military operation, partly because U.S. ammunition stocks are running low.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran had sent the United States, through Qatari mediators, a seven-day plan to restore shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Trump also posted a map on Truth Social labeling the Strait of Hormuz as the Strait of Trump, but offered no comment.
