As partygoers headed home from downtown Montreal’s bars and clubs early Saturday, two groups of young men began brawling in the street. One was ultimately stabbed in what police say is an attempted murder.
It was around 3 a.m. on de la Montagne St., near Ste-Catherine St. W. when the 911 calls came in, according to Manuel Couture, a Montreal police spokesperson. And the 911 calls kept coming.
At the scene, officers discovered a man of 24-years-old who had been stabbed in the upper body with a sharp object, Couture said. The man was taken to hospital in “serious condition” while those fighting fled the scene. The man was “out of danger” by later Saturday morning.
